After a brief introduction, the dream-like melody is introduced and alternates between the woodwinds and brass. The piece modulates to Eb and changes to a new allegro tempo. Following a short percussion break, new melodic material is introduced  by the upper woodwinds. The same melodic motive is then developed by the trumpets and the low brass before the conclusion of the piece.
